If you work in an office building, consider taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Stairs? Elevator? I try to do this as much as possible and your body will thank you. It’s great exercise at no cost and it does save on the cost of running the bullding for your employer. I have even seen people climb the stairs as a lunchtime workout!
Stairs? Elevator? Which do you choose?

Can’t answer this straight. my office is in first floor, no choice. My previous job was at 28th floor, didn’t take risk to take staircase. but i follow the rule of 4 stories, less than that = stairs , more then that = elevator
When the stairs are broken I take the elevator :-)
I agree, stairs are a great way to stay in shape. In fact, while I was traveling in Europe, I learned that there are some older buildings with 3+ floors that don’t even have elevators. Last summer I was invited to stay at a friend’s house in the south of Spain. When I got there, I learned it was an apartment on the third or fourth floor and the building did not have an elevator.
ah yes WorldofFinance, that is why those europeans are so fit! I can remember seeing people moving into an apartment on the third floor of a building in Amsterdam with no stairs. That is what those hooks at the peak of the roofs are for!
Since I’m retired now, I don’t have any stairs :-), but when I worked I tried to walk up the 8 flights at least once a day.
Wow Marie, 8 flights, good for you!
My office is on the 6th floor of a building and I take the stairs every day. Even better, the fax machine is on floor one so I am guaranteed to do the stairs a few times a day.
Must help keep you in good shape!
