For anyone who has ever cleaned an oven you now its really one of the most unpleasant chores in the house. We have tried the less toxic, lemon scented oven cleaners but even they wreaked of chemicals. So when we moved into our new house we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the previous owners had left an aluminum drip tray at the bottom of the oven to catch any food drippings. So far only a few things have fallen on it but we know that when its really dirty we will simply have to take it out and replace it without the need to spray the oven with horrible cleaners and spend lots of time working our forearms trying to get the mess up. The drip trays are recyclable if they get really nasty, or we can let them soak in water and vinegar overnight and clean them.

We use one of these trays too. Works really well. They last a while too. I guess we don’t cook too many things that cause a mess.
Glad to hear they hear they last a long time Miss T!
Do you just put them on top of the heating element? Doesn’t that create a lot of smoke in the oven?
@ Retire by 40 No you put them under the heating element. If you install them right they don’t cause any smoke, just catch any drips.
OK, I see. I don’t think there is any room under the heating element in our oven. I will check it.
