Green Tip #98: CFL Bulb Recycling

A great bulb that so many of us have in our homes these days are CFL light bulbs. They use less energy, don’t produce as much heat and last so much longer than the conventional bulb and they won’t be subject to the light bulb ban. However as great as these bulbs are, they do contain mercury and therefore cannot be placed in the garbage if one happens to break or expire. Rather the thing to do is to bring it to a home renovations box centre that participate in CFL bulb recycling and drop it off in their designated boxes. They will then ensure that the mercury is safely removed and recycled.
