We will be doing the last of our oven cooking for a while over the next couple of weeks as temperatures start to heat up with spring in full and summer seemingly not far behind (over 20 degrees Celsius with the humidity today!). I recently learned a great tip that I will be employing from now on with the oven and that is to always keep the door shut. Although I was aware of course that heat escapes when you open the oven door I had no idea it could be in the order of 25-75 degrees Celsius lost every time! So use the oven light and try to avoid peaking by opening the door. You pay to get the oven back up to temperature.
