Sustasinability Tip #185: Water At Night

On my way to work this morning I had to carefully pass a stretch of sidewalk that was partially being watered by someone’s sprinkler. At 8 AM they were watering their lawn and small bushes. This on a day that went well into the 3o degrees Celsius range. So chances are that all that water they poured on dried up before lunch time. It makes a lot more sense to water plants in the evening when the temperatures are not as high and the vegetation actually has a chance to absorb the water. For those whose water is metered it makes a ton of financial sense as well.
