My favourite season is fall but winter also lures me with the promise of hot and hearty stews and chili. To save on time and energy I make a big pot of stew, chili, soup, etc and then freeze some and have some as leftovers for lunch or dinner. For instance last night I made a gumbo, put some in the freezer and will have the rest for lunch this week. Sure beats having another sandwich or buying a lunch everyday. This way I don’t heat up the stove every night which saves on the electricity bill plus I have more time in the evenings for other things … like writing this post!

The glass Mason jar are really good to store the bulk food. We use them for pasta sauce.

We have a canning kit too!
This is something I need to get better at myself. We’re guilty of letting left-overs go to waste too often. Also, we have limited freezer space, so buying a chest freezer for the basement may be in order.

We have a chest freezer but haven’t plugged it in our new house. As we do more bulk cooking we’ll get it fired up again.
We do this too. In fact we have a freezer dedicated to meals that we have cooked previously that we can use for lunches at work or quick dinners. It saves a ton of time and we are never tempted to eat out.

wow a whole freezer! do you freeze your meals in tupperware or glass containers or …? I have not tried glass yet as I am afraid it might break.
Dedicated eh? That is an interesting idea. Just need to label everything well!

It sure was!
I did just that this weekend - I’ve got 50+ burritos plus egg sandwiches in my freezer, and I’m going to make more today!
It saves so much time!
Awesome! Now I’ve never frozen egg sandwiches before. Do you microwave them to warm them up or eat them as soon as they’re thawed?
